The YMCA Awards Certificate in Fitness Instruction (Exercise To Music) is for anyone wishing to pursue a career in teaching studio based group exercise classes.

Course Information
This qualification provides access onto The Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 2 and is worth 20 REPs points. 

By the end of this course you will be able to;
  • Plan, instruct and evaluate safe and appropriate exercise to music sessions,
  • Plan and deliver a variety of exercise to music sessions, including (but not limited to) aerobics, step, body conditioning and circuit training,
  • Select relevant exercises and design appropriate exercises/routines which address safety at all times, use a logical and progressive teaching methodology to develop choreography and build routines effectively,
  • Develop routines that build up in a progressive fashion, to ensure that class members experience a sense of achievement
  • Demonstrate a variety of choreographic and teaching methods to keep class members interested and motivated

This is a blended learning course, so includes elements of home study, online e-learning and attendance to our 5-day practical workshops. The course can be started at anytime but attendance on workshops is essential. You also have the option of attending our revision support days

This qualification is also suitable for Zumba, Clubbercise and Bokwa instructors etc. looking to fully qualify as a group exercise to music instructor. This Exercise to Music qualification is also essential if you aspire to teach certain Les Mills group exercise classes.

You can also benefit from being allocated a personal tutor including their direct contact details, wrap-around tutor support before, during and after the workshops, and regular support and guidance emails.

* Theory exams can be sat during the scheduled workshop days, or on an alternative date at our exam approved centres, by completing our 'book and assessment' form. You can also attend and complete the exams on our revision support days.
